CHARACTER INFO
Character: Tony Tony Chopper
Canon: One Piece & during the Enies Lobby arc.
Age: 15
Background Information: https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Tony_Tony_Chopper/History
Personality: 1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
Chopper is a small, humanoid (yes, you read that right) reindeer. Despite seeming childlike in nature, he's in his early teens, and mature enough to have learned quite a bit when it comes to the medical field – enough to the point where he's the doctor of the Strawhat Crew. Easily impressionable, Chopper is someone who is quickly influenced by others – enough to the point where he left the island he grew up on to join the Strawhats.
Despite being raised by two rather eccentric individuals, Chopper comes off as rather timid and shy at first, but this is due to the past when he was previously shunned and feared by humans. Although he's become more open, he has a general distrust for those who he does not know well. If not for the fact that he met the Strawhat Crew, he would have maintained the habit of either hiding or running out of fear from any humans that he would meet. Despite this, Chopper is polite and kind – helping others who he doesn't know well and loyal to those who he considers friends. He's kind to the point where he would do absolutely anything for his friends – even if it means stepping out of his comfort zone.
2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
Chopper's driving force is his dream to carry out his deceased father figure's dream – to become a doctor who can cure any disease. While he had partially set out with Luffy's crew with a partial desire to be a pirate, his primary goal in life is to further his studies as a doctor. His goals are noble in their own way – believing strongly that a doctor should help anyone who needs assistance, along with the fact that all life should be respected. When the Strawhat crew is in trouble in any way, he helps them as much as possible – even going as far as delivering first aid supplies to friend who states that he no longer wants to be involved with the crew.
But, it isn't just being a doctor that motivates him. Chopper cares for his friends enough to where he considers them family, visibly becoming extremely upset at the thought of being part of another crew. Even though he is easily panicked, Chopper will fight for his friends and even sacrifice his well-being when it comes to protecting them. Though, perhaps it makes sense for him to get along so well with the other crewmates. With how passionate they all are, Chopper's tendency to be easily impressed and influenced by others is enough to make him admire them easily.
His goal as a doctor is something strong enough that his kind and meek nature can be replaced with resentment when it comes to harsh experiments and manipulation through medicine. He believes very strongly in “the doctor's code” and believes that a doctor should only seek to help others.
3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
As said earlier, Chopper is incredibly naive and even timid. He believes the majority of the things said to him, even if the story sounds ridiculous to others. While this is enough to inspire him to mimic others, Chopper can still be very cowardly at times. With his lack of confidence in his fighting abilities contributing to such things, he runs away more than anything else when it comes to protecting himself against adversaries. For the most part, it's only with the motivation of others when he finds himself gathering whatever courage he needs to push himself through.
Despite considering himself as a pirate, Chopper can panic easily when it comes to dangerous situations. This part of his personality becomes extreme enough at times to be a gag, sometimes to where he asks where a doctor is if someone is hurt (despite being a doctor himself). He's also extremely emotional, wearing his heart on his sleeve and finding himself influenced greatly by the emotions of others around him.
His lack of confidence is also drastic enough to where he finds himself hiding from others and intimidated easily by people he does not know well. He has a habit of not only hiding from people upon first meeting them, but finds himself flustered very easily when it comes to compliments. He has a conflicting response to such things – while obviously happy, he'll outright insult the other person as well (saying things like “It's not like that makes me happy or anything, idiot!”).
4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
One Piece is full of unique characters, but Chopper... is truly different and interesting due to the goal he's seeking as a pirate. His kindness and lack of confidence to fight has earned him a whopping bounty of 100 berries – in comparison to someone like Luffy who has a bounty well into the thousands.

The only ability I'm wondering about nerfing is his Rumble Ball ability. I don't personally consider his transformations to be game breaking or anything, especially since they're already fairly limited in the canon. He only has access to his transformations for a short time, and it's basically the influence of his own hand crafted medicine that causes him to transform.
For his inventory, I would like for him to enter the game with rumble balls. Chopper isn't someone who relies on them too often, and he can create them on his own – I'm more than happy to have him perhaps only carry a few of them at a time if this power needs to be nerfed in some way.
Considering that he is from an earlier point in canon, the techniques listed in the Wiki is not something he has developed yet.

Corsair. Despite everything, Chopper is from a world of pirates. While pirates are known as morally questionable individuals at best in his world, they're also a place of admiration for many people as well. At his canon point, he's considered himself to be a pirate for quite sometime – and therefore, would be most fit to be placed in the game as being a corsair.. Despite being incredibly loyal to being a Strawhat, it would feel very out of character for him to consider himself anything but both a pirate and a doctor at this point. Chopper thrives on the idea of not only achieving his goals, but self discovery as well – which is something that can be achievable through his freedom of being considered a corsair.

Date: 2024-01-09 04:16 am (UTC)And that's just it – it was Hiriluk's passion that inspired Chopper to take up the doctor's oath. With how impressionable the young reindeer is, it'd only be a matter of time that the two major people in his life would shape the person that he ended up becoming. Chopper is inspired by both the kindness and passion that others have – whether it be by Usopp's stories, or Zoro's own tough love that he has for him.
Kureha is someone who also doesn't show kindness easily – she's only complimented him once before, after all. However,it was her harsh love and the no-nonsense attitude that she often had for him that pushed him to finally leave his home and travel, just as it was the way that she consistently taught him what she knew about medicine that only further inspired him to follow his dream as a doctor. With how well she got to know him during their time together, she had known had to push Chopper to make the rebellious decision to leave home, despite scolding him to stay. The both of them share a bond so close that the success make one another happy – whether it's Chopper following his dreams, or Kureha finding success as a doctor.
Ultimately, it was Hiriluk's death that also caused Chopper to want pursue his dreams as a doctor. Not only finding motivation through the way he lived with him, but the fact that it was his mistake that lead to his death. How could he not want to push himself after such a tragic incident? Even if Hirluk had forgiven Chopper for that incident, perhaps there's still a part of him that hasn't forgiven himself.
And, that's just it. Regrets are what push Chopper to become stronger. Whether it's his cowardice during the first confrontations as a member of the Strawhats, or Hiriluk's death, he finds strength and lessons within such situations. Later on in One Piece, he trains to become stronger – it's a farcry from when he had wanted to run away during a fight. As emotional and childish as Chopper can act, he's much stronger than he appears – wanting to learn from his mistakes, rather than running away from them.
With how truly passionate the Strawhat Pirates are, Chopper finds himself wanting to venture out in the world with them – not only to pursue his dream, but to discover himself. It was the pirates that had initially pushed him out of his shell. Having had been rejected by humans most of his life, Chopper found acceptance and admiration through all of them. Luffy's encouragement and determination is something that many characters within One Piece find inspirational, and Chopper is no exception to that. He quickly finds himself as fond of the Strawhat Pirates as he is of his parental figures – viewing the pirates as almost a family. It gets to the point where he cannot imagine being a part of any other crew, driven to tears at the idea of even doing that much. The pirates have inspired Chopper to not only become stronger, but to find bravery in even the scariest situations. He becomes close enough to them to the point where he doesn't hesitate to risk his life to save one of his friends. It's a dramatic development, but it's not an exaggeration to say that he would do absolutely anything for the people he cares about.
